Dispensing pharmacist

Job Description:

This Pharmacist role will typically involve the clinical and accuracy checking as well as the dispensing of specialized secondary care products. The role will involve evaluating the appropriateness of these highly specialized products, dispensing of the medication to the patient and clinical counseling on the correct use and adverse effects of that medication. A keen interest in clinical pharmacy is required.

In this role the pharmacist will act as a learned intermediary between physicians and patients and thus ensure the safe and effective use of medications. The role will also involve participation in disease-state management, to optimize and monitor drug therapy or interpret medical laboratory results – in collaboration with physicians and/or other health professionals.

The required pharmacist may have areas of expertise in specialized clinical disease areas to act as a critical source of medical knowledge for the company, patients and clients. The role will involve patient counseling and medication reviews over the telephone.
